Wood County — research proposal

Choose the tool for your question

Wood County lists Document Inquiry, Assessment Inquiry, Tax Inquiry, and Tax Maps separately. Use Document Inquiry for recorded instruments. An assessment result or map can help identify a property, but it is not the recorded deed.

Search the document index

The linked Document Inquiry interface offers Index Search, Image Search, and Vault Indexes Search, plus name-filter and date-range controls. Its document categories include Deeds and Liens. Start with an owner name and a broad recording period; narrow the search after identifying likely results.

Keep enough information to return

Copy the document identifier, book and page, and recording date into your notes. Compare the names and property description before treating a result as a match. For a street address alone, begin with the assessment or map resources linked on the official services page, then return to the document index.

Coverage, costs, and older documents

The services page does not establish a complete date range or fee schedule for land records. Ask the clerk about the specific document type and period you need, whether an image is available, and how to request an ordinary or certified copy. A working portal does not prove complete historical coverage.
